The evening will also be filled with some new pastries and treats.  LostCoffee will be introducing a new evening pastry, PIE!  Who doesn’t love pie?  Each Saturday evening the cases will be stocked with an assortment of pies from local bakers.  Mixing the taste of a good piece of pie with a warm cup of coffee should make for a wonderful evening.

Kids: Register your bicycle with police, have it safety-checked and learn the rules of the road at the upcoming Bike Rodeo being sponsored by the Castle Rock Police Department.  The event, for ages 5 to 11, will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 12, on Second Street, between Perry and Wilcox streets.  Kids can learn how to ride a bike safely by maneuvering through an obstacle course with a police officer walking beside them.  Members of the 6202 Cycling Club will be performing the bicycle-safety inspections. Participants also are encouraged to bring their bicycle helmets, so that they can be checked for the proper fit.  All bikes can be registered with Castle Rock police on the spot at the rodeo, which will help get them back to their owners in the event that they are lost or stolen.

Join us Saturday morning at Festival Park, just a block from our 4th and Perry store, as we help support the “Spring up the Creek” event. Look for a LostCoffee barista serving up complimentary donuts and coffee to volunteers.

Also, on Saturday we’re back at Bison Park for the “Ridgeline Rampage” mountain bike race. The Rocky Mountain Endurance series is back on our schedule and our first event starts in our home town. Visit Brewtus, our mobile coffee truck, where baristas will whip up drinks hot or cold all day long. Don’t forget to cheer on competitors who will be pedaling in races on over 60 miles of single track.

The plans call for an extended car queue lane, an unmanned ordering taking system, along with a hand off window on 4th Street.  The building modifications will start the second week of April.  The new drive-thru lane will queue customer vehicles in the current parking lane directly behind the store.  Only three parking spaces will be voided after construction is complete.  The five parking spaces next to the building on 4th street will remain, just slightly angled.  A curb will be placed between those spaces and the new drive-thru lane. The project should be completed by end of May 2012 and the store will remain open during the construction.

As with anything we take on it’s important for us to do things right. To be sure these plans are amicable for everyone involved.  Most of all we want to give our customers a wonderful coffee-buying experience.

Attached is a very simple drawing as to how the store and drive-thru will look after construction is complete.

Choose from three incredible fruit flavors: Strawberry, Mango, or WildBerry.  They are made from real fruit puree, natural flavors, real sugar, and contain no artificial preservatives like potassium sorbate or sodium benzoate found in other smoothies.

LostCoffee stores can only be found in Castle Rock, Colorado.  The downtown location is at 390 Perry Street (4th & Perry).  The Meadows location is at 3980 Limelight Ave (near the movie theater).

Our Limelight location, next to the movie theater, has some good news as well. We have set the soft opening date for that location as Saturday, February 18th.

Limelight Avenue

The Limelight location started construction in November so we just entered our 3rd month.  During the past three months we have reached quite a few milestones.  The walls are up and as of yesterday most of the paint is on the walls. Next week we’ll be beginning our final phase.

Perry Street

Our Perry location has been a slightly different undertaking.  We announced this location mid December so we are entering our second month.  This project is different in a few ways.  First, all the plumbing and electrical are already in place.  We just needed some cabinets and counter tops.  Second the walls, floors and structure were already in place.  To date, we have refinished the floors, repaired some drywall and painted.

As of this update we don’t have any hard opening dates.  Once both locations move into their final phases we’ll be setting some target dates.  Our team is very excited  to get these stores complete. The excitement is growing.  Thanks for your support!

In anticipation of the new store opening Brewtus’ team has laid out a new schedule for December 2011.  Brewtus will be parked outside the new store Monday – Friday 6-11 am.  There are a few exceptions so be sure to check out the big guy’s calendar.  Here is a link to the site’s calendar feed.  You can also see it here, on the company Facebook page.

Yes this means the store is moving forward.  The Town of Castle Rock issued our building permits earlier this week.  The work has already begun.

LostCoffee will soon be opening it’s first retail location, not on wheels, in Fall 2011. The Meadows location will feature a cozy indoor seating area along with a hip lounge area to “hang out” in. The outdoor seating will be comfortable and plentiful. A patio with 180 degree views of the south west front range will keep you warm year around. Here are just a few of the delicious products we’ll be featuring at this location.

The Fall Fling at Auraria Campus starts tomorrow and good timing.  The high temperature tomorrow is going to be 50 according to the weather forecasters.

We love hanging out on campus.  The students are supportive of our Colorado based business and love our product.   Brewtus is stocked to the roof with product.  Get there early to get your Evol breakfast burrito.  We’ll have all three choices, Sausage, Bacon, or Potato…while they last.

Brewtus will there staring about 7:30am, both Wednesday and Thursday.

We had a great time Sunday morning.  The Denver MINI club, MINI5280, invited us to launch of this years YallaYalla rally.  Thanks for having us out.

Success means growth. Growth means an update.  During the past 5-6 weeks we have been updating the lanes in which we deliver MotoringShirts to the customer.  Originally the delivery was OpenCart, WordPress, FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube and flickr; all are great tools.

The OpenCart shopping site just had a full overhaul.  CEOself upgraded to the newest version of the open source software.  All the design images were remade, along with a new and more secure SSL connection.

We have decided to replace WordPress with tumblr.  The tumblr service will allow for more and informative updates.  It will feed out to our FaceBook and  Twitter accounts.

We decided to leave the rest alone.  After all, our YouTube videos get nice airtime.  Flickr is really a great tool that can’t be matched for socializing pictures.

There’s nothing more heartbreaking for a new blogger when you see your content being scraped onto another blog or your intellectual property being used by others without credit.

I still get upset by this from time to time, however there’s one thing that I’ve noticed despite hundreds of sites each day republishing my work without permission and/or credit. Nobody actually seems to read those blogs.

The key to successful blogging is unique and useful information. People who simply regurgitate what you write, or even repost it word for word, either eventually give up (because nobody reads it) or get caught out (and stop in disgrace).

While there are times when I’ve chased down others who blatantly steal my stuff without credit (there is a line) I find it much more beneficial to spend my time creating more great content than policing how people use what I’ve already produced.

Focus the bulk of your time upon producing and being the best you can be. This will have more positive impact upon your business than the negative tasks of stopping spammers and thieves stealing your old ideas.
