August Update

Posted by JohnJohn under Jeep, Mini Cooper, family, kids

We’ve been pretty busy so far this month.  The boys started school last week.  They love their teachers.  Nicole and I are very impressed with their outlook on this year.

Cooper Mountain saw us again this month for the Mini in the Mountains event.  The event is put on by MINI5280.org.  Grandma and Grandpa took the boys camping, so Nicole and I had some time to ourselves, about 5 days.  The twisty roads were fun too. :) …read more here

August also gave us the opportunity to replace the Jeep I sold in July.  Yup I sold my green, lifted XJ.  Yes, that’s right folks for a short period of time this year the Paulsen family was “Jeepless”.  Hard to believe.  So we replace the mini van with a 4dr Wrangler.  …read more here

Campingforums.com is going very strong these days.  Head over there to discuss camping gear, places or a funny camping story.  I’ll be dropping the advertising on the site by the end os September

Matt Holliday’s lucky day

Posted by JohnJohn under family, kids, photos, sports

Today was the luckiest day in Matt Holliday’s career.  He had his picture taken with two of the most handsome guys in Denver. Clint Hurdle got pretty lucky today too.  Even my mom got in on THAT picture.  She’s a huge Hurdle fan.  The boys had a great day with the Grandparents!

What a great time we had last night.  My mom gave us the tickets for last nights Colorado Rockies game.  We couldn’t have asked for a better night.  The traditional after the game fireworks were amazing.

Here are some quick iPhone pictures I snapped last night.

Jacob’s inline hockey team took second place today in the Castle Rock Rec Center league.  The day started out at 8:30a.  They played the Purple team.  Beating them 7 to 6 to advance in the tournament.  They had the Purple teams number all year.  Today was the third time they had beaten them.  After that win the kids had an hour to rest before their next game.

The championships game was going to be a tough one.  The Yellow team manhandled Burgandy to advance.  Yellow was the only team Jacob’s team had lost to all season.  they were going to have to play their best game of the season to win.  Which they did.  In the end the Yellow team proved to much to handle.  The kids played the best game I had seen them play.  They listened to the coach, covered the opponents well, even managed a few goals, but it was not enough.

This was Jacob’s first season, heck his first time on skates.  He did great.  Today is was already starting to do a little skating backwards.  He’ll be signed up in August for the Fall teams, no doubt.  He is having a ball.
